Hudson United Soccer Club Parents,
As I'm sure you all know, Hudson United is completely a volunteer organization. At the moment, the entire board is made up of parents of the two U12 teams - my girl's team and Jerry's boy's team. A few of the parents also have kids on younger teams. However, in two years (or less, as our 2 year terms expire), most of the people that currently run the club will be gone.
I'm writing to see if any of you would be interested in getting more involved. We need to get some more help from the younger teams, and now is a perfect time. We have several positions up for election/reelection this year. Elections are on Tuesday, May 22 during our annual board meeting. The meeting will be held at the Hudson Police Station in the Community Room starting at 7:30. Everyone is welcome to attend. If any of you are interested in any of the open board positions or want to know more about it, please let me know. We also have other ways to get involved, that don't involve being on the board (fundraising team, spirit night coordinators, concession stand coo rdinators and miscellaneous projects).
Here are the open board positions up for election/reelection:
Vice President - Main responsibility is finding and scheduling referees for the U9 & U10 games. These are usually Hudson kids from the older teams.
Registrar - Registers all of the players and teams with the league. handles registrations at tryouts and at registration night. collects payments and makes player cards for all of the players. This position is a lot of work, but if you're good with computers & spreadsheets and very organized, you'd be good at this position.
Field Coordinator - Handles the field issues, including organizing field cleanup and field lining. Has to measure and line the field the first time each season. Coordinates field mowing and maintenance (we have a contractor that does the work). Also schedules times for all our home games and has to decide on game day cancellations.
Treasurer - Usual tasks involved with being treasurer - dealing with the money and payments. Also coordinates the annual tax return, although we usually hire someone to do it.

I have been actively involved in this soccer club for five years and soccer has been a big part of my family's lives. While I still have one year as President of the club we need to start getting parents of our younger players more involved in the running of the club and this would be a perfect way to jump right in!

U8, U9 and U10: Registration: 4:30-5:00
Tryouts: 5:00-6:15
U11, U12, U13 and U14 Registration: 6:00-6:30
Tryouts: 6:30-8:00
We have a very exciting opportunity for all Hudson United players this season. The Alvirne varsity coaches, Lance McAdam and Jeff Blackwell, will be holding several foot skills clinics throughout the season. These are free for all Hudson United players, and we encourage everyone to make it to as many as you can. Lance and Jeff are both former Hudson United coaches with tons of soccer experience and they will be working on improving the players' foot skills and ball control.
All sessions will be held on Freedom Field. The dates for the clinics are listed below. The first session is this Friday, so please try to make it if you can. In case of inclement weather, please check our website for cancellations (www.hudsonsoccer.org).
Clinics for U8-U10 players are from 5:00-6:15. Clinics for U11-U14 players are from 6:15-7:30. Please don't be late!! All players must bring their own ball.
A big thank you to all who showed up for field cleanup day. And a bigger thank you to the Hilton family for coming back on Easter Sunday to finish lining the field!
