Pablo Ignacio González Carbonell
Presidente de Grupo Royal Holiday at Royal Holiday
The global pandemic widely affected the international tourism industry and temporarily slowed its growth. Royal Holiday Group, a leader in Mexican tourism, has structured a USD 400 million investment plan to build new hotels under the Park Royal brand. Its already popular vacation club will benefit from the planned expansion.
Pablo González Carbonell, Royal Holiday’s president, explains that the new hotel properties will be located in the Dominican Republic, Cabo San Lucas, the Mayan Riviera, Baja California Sur; and Quintana Roo. Park Royal is the hotel brand name of the Royal Holiday Group’s hotel chain. It owns 16 hotels in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Argentina. The properties are located in Miami Beach, Acapulco, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and Buenos Aires.
Mr González Carbonell says that the four new properties will open by 2022. He said, “Who doesn’t want a vacation? Full recovery is just around the corner.” Most public health reports predict that the tourism industry and Royal Holiday will return to brisk operations by this date.
In addition, Royal Holiday’s vacation club concept is poised to attract more international travelers. Users make regular payments over a year’s time to book the vacation of their choice at more than 200 destinations around the world. The vacation club allows travelers to book one to 15-day vacations in an easy-to-use format.
Royal Holiday’s president reports that the company quickly reacted to the burgeoning coronavirus pandemic but saw a 50 percent decline in both hotels and vacation club businesses. He reports that the company plans to remain independent and that the company is not contemplating a merger or acquisition at this time.
